Ramen class for solo travelars

There are 2 guests from US today.

It is sometime not easy to make a class who is booked by one person since the class opens for 2 participants at the least.

This class was miraculously offered by two girls who had been in different county and almost same time.  They both offered ramen cooking, wow!

I’m glad they enjoyed cooking ramen, the toppings and gyoza.  One of the girl had been in China and learned how to wrap gyoza ingredients with wrappers.  She shared how to make beautiful shaped gyoza.

Although they are early 20ish, they both often cook at their home and well done in the class as well.  Me,  “wait!  slow down, I can’t catch up for  tidy up, haha!”

They are so lovely girls. After we talked many things during lunch time,  I felt like I’m their mom in Japan, since I’m their mom’s age rather than their friend’s age.

I  wish their trip safety and great fortune in their future!

Thank you for giving me such a precious time! I appreciate your review on TripAdvisor.

Many thanks,

Kisshy

This part, wrapping gyoza process is fun time. All the participants concentrated to make nice shape gyoza, but it’s not always can make the shape perfect. However, the unique shapes crack the all up!   Don’t worry, the shape won’t be a big matter after pan frying them.

Today’s menu on Oct 24th

Miso Ramen with sautéed vegetables, sautéed miso pork, braised pork, seasoned egg.

Pork Gyoza

Sesame dressed cucumber

I shared one little thing better buy kitchen tool in Japan.

This is the must item for making perfect boiling egg. This makes easy to peel egg shells completely.

There is a small sharp pin in center of the circle. Leave a raw egg and press until making small hall.  Then boil the egg as usual to make a boiling egg.   You may find how easy to peel the shells!

The tool is sold in 100 yen store. It worth to bring it back to your country and nice souvenir for cooking lover.

Thank you for giving such nice Ramen class!

Japanese Cooking Class on August 1st Giving you Japanese name!

Hi there,

We had  such a fun class on August 1st with a couple and their friend from LA and a man from UK. Also attending a photographer shooting for Tokyo.com.

The group today was very fun people including the photographer. We had great time to exchange information of activity in Japan.

I got an idea to give Japanese names to the participants in this class, and I’ve been giving the names to my studuends in the class. We call each other in Japanese name only in the class.  I gave their name today  Shigeru, Sachiko, Yuko, akiko ( her original Japanesae name given by shigeru) and Sho.

Japanese name means depend on which Chinese characters kanji  use for. So there name might be same pronunciation but the meaning is little different.   Every attendee have  enjoyed Japanese name  pretty much so far.  I’ d like to keep doing in my class. Thank you for giving me the idea, shigeru!
